Thrifting

I thought I’d write more about thrifting today. I think I started doing it early on in high school. I will admit I had a bit of a shoplifting problem and I got a high from doing it. Later on when I was diagnosed with BPD, that behavior made more sense to me.

Thrifting was always about the hunt for me. The idea that you could walk into a store with so many items and find the perfect one, or few. It’s still hard for me to understand why people pay full price for something when there are such good deals at second hand stores. But I know many people hate sifting through things. Since starting this blog, I promised myself I won’t buy anything new until I have posted everything I own. This is really helping me with clutter. But it also means I have taken away a hobby I love. I’m hoping I can shop for other people soon and get back into it that way. This dress has no label and appears to be vintage. I found it at Housing Works on the Upper West Side. It had some broken stitching and I mended it. The colors are pretty. It feels like a good dress for dancing. I paired it with green Melissa loafers that I got on Poshmark.
