I don’t remember where I got this dress, but it reminds me of a Pucci design. The 60s swirl and color scheme. Maybe I wore it once or twice.
last night I messaged Libby Callaway. she was the fashion editor of the NY post when I was an intern there, 20 years ago. It was right before 9/11. I was lucky to get the internship through a connection my dad had to an advisor for Rupert Murdoch. I was newly 18 and very excited to work at the Post, a famous NY Tabloid. I was assigned to the features department where Fay Penn was the editor. I quickly began sitting in on staff meetings and pitching ideas. They treated me like one of their own. The other reporters helped me out. The film editor, VA Musetto (famous for his headline “headless body found in topless bar) took me to film screenings. I wrote about a kosher food festival. I wrote about the trend of low rise jeans, and got to measure the rise in different jeans. I went out and did Vox pops on the street, where I’d ask strangers a question. I also sorted the mail. after 9/11 we were sent anthrax and I had to stop doing that part of the job. But it was the time of my life. I learned so much and I felt so proud to work there. I also met the most amazing people, who I still follow today. Libby lives in Nashville now. I met her for coffee when I was there 3 years ago. She has an incredible vintage collection that I’d love to see in person someday! Until
