I designed this dress! I had my friend sew it because I’ve never sewed stretchy material before and also don’t have a surger. But I love this style. it’s easy to put on over your head, no zipper required. It fits well and falls nicely. this money pattern makes me laugh. I wore this dress when I competed on a podcast trivia show before Covid. I can’t even remember the name now, but I was seconds away from winning $1000! Instead I won nothing. But it was something to try. I also wore this dress last New Years Eve when I went to Puerto Rico. That was such a cool trip. I was by myself, but I was already dating Sam, and we texted a lot. I had wished I’d been able to spend New Years with him and his family, but I’d already booked the trip before we met.
i think about money a lot. I mean, most people do. I think about how much I’m spending, what feels worth it, etc. I’ve always been pretty frugal, but sometimes ill go and buy a bunch of dresses and not think much of it. Usually I get buy a dress for the price of a NYC cocktail ($18). And I’d rather have a dress than a drink! Since I don’t have a steady job, I end up finding bits of work here and there and stringing it together. I’ve been pretty open about also receiving Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, which I’ve gotten since April 2020. it has allowed me to save. I hope I’ll make more money through my fashion and writing endeavors, since those are what really make me tick. In the meantime, I have this dress to wear, that makes me smile. Thanks to my dear friend Sarah for sewing it. I have a few others we worked on that I’ll post. the fabric is from the garment district in Midtown. I’d also like to sew this myself and have it in a bunch of different patterns. would you buy it? For how much?
