I found this Marni dress at a Beacon‘s Closet (where else?) and it was $37. It retails for $1600 and is from their 2009 runway collection. You can imagine my delight when I found it for that price. And it fit! I’m going to try and sell it though. I have always loved designer brands, but I refuse to pay full price when I can find deals like this one. I worked at a magnificent department store in Boston when I was a college student at Northeastern University. The store is no longer, but it was called Louis Boston and it was the store of my dreams. The owner, Debi Greenberg, is an old family friend and I am so grateful to her for giving me a job there. I learned so much about designers and fashion. It was not uncommon for Zach Posen to walk through the door. Everyone knows Debi. I even saw her once at the Paris fashion shows. How I got there is another story, that I will tell!
My grandfather Bert Paley also worked in fashion. He also worked with Ralph Lauren back when he was Ralph Lifshitz! Ralph asked grandpa if he wanted to go into business with him and grandpa was like, ”with a name like that? No thanks.” Haha! grandpa still did well though.
Back to the skirt. I enjoy things that are versatile and can be layered/worn other ways. I’m a stylist at heart and I paired this with my black Melissa sandals that can be worn anywhere and with anything. I’ve worn them to the beach and in the ocean also! The long sleeved top is from Uniqlo.
Today’s post is dedicated to sweet Aria Simone, who joined our world last night. Sending love to her parents.
