Hand Collar

The hand collar. As soon as I saw it, I knew I needed it. It was just weird enough, you know? A few years ago, my life seemed to be falling apart. I had to move out of the beautiful home I was sharing with my ex and into a small apartment with roommates. I was grateful to have had a safe place to be, but my heart felt shattered. I tried to pick myself up. I found a job with The Color Factory, a cool new immersive experience in San Francisco. Everyone wanted to go to it, but there was limited availability. The founder, Jordan Ferney, hired me to help handle all the customer inquiries, which mainly consisted of, ”it’s my last week on earth. Can I please have a ticket to the color factory.” desperate times, people. After a week or so, I was let go. They decided to move customer service in house. Well, that was the sign I needed. Fuck San Francisco, I thought. I’m so done. And I moved back to NYC, where I lived with my parents for the next 5 months. It was kind of like covid has been for some people. It was a unique time that I was able to spend with my folks. But I also felt sad, confused and I was still healing from the abuse I’d suffered. I tried to date and it didn’t go well. Flash forward to 2021. Fresh off another breakup, I’m on my own again. I don’t usually like being alone. I’d rather be in a partnership. But I’m 37 and I have to keep practicing self love and self care. Jordan Ferney now lives in NYC. She’s a trendy influencer and I follow her. She posted a picture of herself in a Vivetta Dress and it caught my eye. I tried to find the exact one, but I couldn’t. It’s fairly pricey, too. I kept looking every so often and finally found this one on Poshmark. I don’t know where I’ll wear it, but I love it. Not everything I like is “conventional,” but that’s something I like about myself. The leggings are from Amazon. The shoes are from a random shop in Paris, maybe in the Marais. Would you wear this? A friend said it looks like maternity wear and she’s not wrong!
