It has been a while since many of us dressed up. But there’s something about it for me. I love dressing up, even when there isn’t a reason to. I don’t often wear black because there are so many amazing colors out there and black just feels less interesting. Less eye catching, perhaps. I went to Puerto Rico this past December. It was a great trip and I felt so much gratitude that I tested negative for Covid and was able to go. My first full day there, I went to Old San Juan and walked around. I typed in “vintage” into Google Maps and a charming little store was just around the block. It turned out to have quite a few wonderful pieces, including this one! At first, I was slightly on the fence. It was only $35, but I wasn’t sure I’d wear it. The beading is so beautiful though. I figure there will come a time to take her out. And until then, she’s on here!
I paired this beauty with a sparkly clutch purse that I believe belonged to my great-grandmother, Bess Cohen. Talk about fancy! She died when I was very young but I always loved the story of her sleeping sitting up because she couldn’t find anyone to help her out of her dress. The shoes are also pretty special. They’re by Irregular Choice and I found them years ago at Urban Outfitters for $10. They have the NYC skyline on the side. They’re a little too small and for years they lived on top of my TV, like art! Here’s to going out again in the not so distant future!
