Ahh Brooklyn! You’re such a thorn in my foot! But whatever, people I love live there so I’ll try to be nice. After 3 weeks away, I went to see my sister and family and then my brother and Rachel, whose wedding is in less than a week. Parking by my brother is probably the worst in NYC. It’s a very trendy area, especially on a Sunday afternoon. Bring the still fairly inexperienced driver that I am, I saw someone exiting a parking spot a block from his apartment and assumed it was safe. But if I’d read the sign more clearly, it was a no standing area. So I got my first ever ticket and it was $115. I felt kind of stupid. If I hadn’t been rushing I would have been more careful. But my time with my brother is important to me and I knew they had a time limit.
today’s dress is from Budapest! The shoes are from Madrid and the pearls are from one of my exes. The worst one. Actually all my exes were good people other than that one. More in my book. But I like the pearls, which his grandfather strung. that was special. The dress is from a shop in the Jewish quarter of Budapest. It’s a great neighborhood, with a few synagogues, including the famous one, the Dohany. I went there during my trip and I didn’t like how rude the staff was. but it is beautiful. I went to the vintage shop over there a few times. Their stuff was really good at fair prices. I found a Hungarian peasant top with gorgeous embroidery. I made sure to wear it while I was there so people might think I was Hungarian. I think it backfired and made me look touristy. Haha. I went back and tried today’s dress on, and I loved it. It was great for yesterday’s NYC early fall but still warm weather. The sun was glorious. I sat outside on my brother‘s deck eating pastries and Greek appetizers. I wish I’d gotten a picture. It was really sweet. I even broke my no carb diet a bit.
