Today’s dress is one I picked up last December in the Hampton's. I had been broken up with after 10 months and was pretty sad. My parents had a house to use and invited me to go. Next thing I knew, I was texting with the guy who would become my next boyfriend. I even sent him pictures of me in my new dresses, that I bought at the local East Hampton thrift store. This was one of them. Later, he told me he hated the color red. I like red. It makes a statement. while we were away that week, my grandmother in Melbourne, Australia was at the end of her life. My mother was very sad and wasn’t sure if she should try and get to Australia. But the quarantine was very strict and it wasn’t an easy choice. She ended up not going and Buba passed a few weeks later. now that it’s coming up on a year, I’ve thought about her more. I also got a necklace that she wore. She loved costume jewelry, and hats. She was a bold person for sure. I got to know her better when I lived in Sydney and would visit her in Melbourne sometimes. I got to speak to her a few months before she died. It’s still sort of strange that she’s gone. It feels more like she’s just out of touch.
the boots I’m wearing are from Paris. I have no idea where, but I got them in 2005 when I was studying abroad. I remember them being a pretty significant purchase at the time. It’s cool to still have them, but the inside of the boots is pretty frayed. Im not sure how much longer I’ll keep them. tonight im going to Florida where it’s hot and sunny. I hope to swim a lot and see my friends. later, gators!
